The 2009 Fort Hood shooting was a mass shooting at the U.S. Army post of Fort Hood, near Killeen, Texas, on November 5, 2009. Army Major and psychiatrist Nidal Hasan fatally shot 13 people and injured 32 others.

Hasan was convicted by a military court in 2013 of 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted murder, and was sentenced to death. He was paralyzed from the waist down after being shot during the incident.

The shooting is distinct from the separate 2014 Fort Hood shootings.
