Abiy Ahmed Ali is an Ethiopian politician and former military officer. He became prime minister in 2018 and has led the Prosperity Party since 2019.

In the context of renewed tensions between Ethiopia and Eritrea, Abiy spoke by phone with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who urged dialogue under the countries’ 2018 peace deal.
