The Al-Khair school roof collapse occurred on 15 October 2026 at a private school in Peshawar, Pakistan. The roofs of two classrooms collapsed while children and teachers were inside. At least 34 children and a teacher died, and more than 50 people were injured.
Rescuers and local residents searched the rubble for trapped people. Authorities said everyone trapped had been brought out and the debris cleared. The injured were treated at Lady Reading Hospital.
Investigation
Police said the school owner had been arrested and described the building as structurally weak. The owner attributed damage to one roof to recent rains, according to police. A provincial government committee was formed to investigate the cause; it had not been established in the available reports.
