The Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) is the national assembly of bishops of the Catholic Church in Canada. Founded in 1943, it was officially recognized by the Holy See in 1948. It was called the Canadian Catholic Conference until adopting its current name in 1977.
The conference provides a forum for bishops to share experience and insight, and works on pastoral matters affecting Catholics in Canada. Its areas of activity include ecumenism and interfaith dialogue, social justice, liturgy and Christian education, while respecting the autonomy of individual bishops.
In a statement reported during Pope Leo XIV’s recovery from surgery, the CCCB said it was joining Catholics in Canada and around the world in praying for his swift and complete recovery.
