Charles III (born 14 November 1948) is King of the United Kingdom and 14 other Commonwealth realms. He is the eldest son of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, and the father of Prince William and Prince Harry.

In the news context, Charles is described as maintaining Harry and Meghan’s status as non-working members of the royal family. A letter sent on his behalf said they would not use their royal forms of address and would carry out any charity work as private citizens.
