Flávio Bolsonaro is a Brazilian lawyer and politician who has represented Rio de Janeiro in the Federal Senate since 2019. He is the son of former Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro and is affiliated with the Liberal Party (PL).
In Brazil’s 2026 presidential election, Bolsonaro received 47% of the first-round vote and advanced to a runoff against incumbent president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who received 45%.
On environmental issues, Bolsonaro has denied climate change and described himself as an environmental defender. He has called for modernizing environmental laws but, according to the news report, did not detail plans for Amazon protection or forest financing; environmentalists have interpreted his call as potentially meaning weaker protections.
