Fortune Gomo was a scientist and academic originally from Mutare in eastern Zimbabwe. She earned a PhD from the University of Dundee and had recently started working for Scottish Water.

Gomo, 39, was found fatally injured on South Street in Dundee in July 2025. Prosecutors allege she was repeatedly struck with a knife and that the attack was racially aggravated.
