Habertürk TV

Habertürk TV is a Turkish national TV channel established in 2001 by journalist Ufuk Güldemir. Since 2007, it has been owned by Ciner Media Group. In June 2013, the channel’s relative lack of coverage of the 2013–14 protests in Turkey saw hundreds of protesters gather in front of its head office in Istanbul. On 11 September 2025, the channel was seized by the state and placed under the control of the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund of Turkey as part of an investigation into fraud, tax evasion and money laundering into Can Holding.

Habertürk newspaper

Habertürk was a high-circulation Turkish newspaper established on 1 March 2009 by Ciner Media Group, drawing on the brand of Ciner’s Habertürk TV. It ceased publication on 5 July 2018. The newspaper sold 360,000 copies on its first day of publication; at 10 a.m. local time, the first issue was sold out. The next day’s circulation totalled 202,000, ranking fifth among Turkish dailies. On its first publishing anniversary in 2010, the newspaper sold 380,000 copies, breaking its own record. Unlike all other newspapers in Turkey, Habertürk was the first daily to print in Berliner format in 350 mm × 500 mm (14 in × 20 in), differing slightly from the standard Berliner.

Ownership

Ciner Media Group owns the Habertürk newspaper, Habertürk TV and Habertürk Radyo, as well as the television stations Kanal 1, Show TV and 7/24 Spor. It co-owns the television station Bloomberg HT and publishes a range of magazines, including Turkish editions of international magazines such as FHM.
