The International Cricket Council (ICC) is the global governing body of cricket. Founded in 1909 as the Imperial Cricket Conference, it adopted its current name in 1987.

The ICC governs international cricket and organises major competitions, including the World Cups and the World Test Championship. It also sets playing conditions for international matches.

After a trial, the ICC amended Test playing conditions to let teams agree before a match to use a pink ball throughout if poor light is expected. The change does not provide for switching from a red ball to a pink ball during a match.
