Heavy rain flooded homes, businesses, roads and underpasses in Istanbul, Turkey’s largest city. The flooding stranded vehicles and hundreds of people at their workplaces, disrupting traffic.

The Istanbul governor’s office reported three deaths and four people missing. More than 2,700 people stranded by the floods were safely evacuated, according to Turkey’s interior minister. Authorities advised residents to avoid unnecessary travel, closed schools and barred motorcycles from traffic.

The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality said some areas received their highest amount of rain since 1985. The news report did not specify the year of the flooding.
