Katie Zacharia

Katie Zacharia is an American political commentator who has served as White House press secretary since October 2026.

Katie Zacharia (born Kate Sharon Zacharia, née Black) is an American political commentator and White House press secretary. She has held the post since October 9, 2026.

The White House press secretary speaks for the executive branch and the president, communicates the administration’s responses to events and policies, and regularly briefs the media.

Before taking the role, Zacharia worked as a communications adviser for the company that runs Truth Social and appeared on television to discuss topics raised by President Donald Trump. She said Trump called her about the press secretary position on October 7, 2026, and that she accepted it two days later.

Zacharia has said she did not pass the California bar exam, which she was preparing to take before moving to China after getting married. In an interview, she said she had consulted legal experts about describing herself as a lawyer, said she had not presented herself as an attorney-at-law, and stated that she would not weigh in on legal matters in her White House role.

Her first White House press briefing, on October 13, 2026, was brief. Zacharia said it was intended to be short because Trump was due to take questions from reporters later that morning, and that she had limited time to prepare.
