Michael I. Kotlikoff is an American biomedical researcher and veterinarian who became president of Cornell University in March 2025. He served as the university’s interim president from July 2024 and as its provost from 2015 to 2024.

His academic research has included cardiovascular biology, optogenetics, mouse genetics and ion channel function.

In response to allegations of sexual assault at Cornell, Kotlikoff apologized for the harm Jane Doe said she suffered and announced campus measures. These included suspending fraternity parties for the rest of the academic year, adding sexual assault investigators to campus police and improving support for survivors. The allegations are the subject of a civil lawsuit; the men named in it deny wrongdoing.
