The Pretoria Agreement is a peace treaty between the Ethiopian government and the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF). Signed in Pretoria on 2 November 2022, it committed the parties to a permanent cessation of hostilities to end the Tigray War. It took effect the following day.
Renewed fighting in northern Ethiopia has undermined the agreement. Recent reports described it as effectively shattered, though the agreement remains a key reference point in efforts to end the conflict.
