Robert Edward Jenrick (born 9 January 1982) is a British politician who has represented Newark in the House of Commons since a 2014 by-election. He was elected as a Conservative and joined Reform UK in January 2026.
Jenrick served as secretary of state for housing, communities and local government from 2019 to 2021 and as minister of state for immigration from 2022 to 2023. He also held other government and opposition roles, including shadow secretary of state for justice from 2024 to 2026.
In a BBC Radio 4 interview, Jenrick defended Reform UK leader Nigel Farage and the party’s candidate-vetting process amid allegations about racist and extremist views among party figures. Jenrick said Farage had done much to oppose racism and the far right, and described Reform’s vetting as strong and improving.
