Volodymyr Oleksandrovych Zelenskyy (born 25 January 1978) is a Ukrainian politician and former entertainer. He became Ukraine’s sixth president in 2019 and has remained in office during Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, which began in February 2022.
Born in Kryvyi Rih, Zelenskyy studied law but pursued a career in comedy and entertainment. He co-founded the production company Kvartal 95, which produced the television series Servant of the People, in which he portrayed a fictional Ukrainian president.
In a recent interview, Zelenskyy described China as showing greater willingness to help Russia than Ukraine, saying that even a slight tilt by a country as large as China mattered. His remarks came amid concerns about Ukraine’s reliance on Chinese-made components for military drones.
